2016 PURPOSE: "LOVE GOES THE DISTANCE"
Heart & Sole is joining the race to end poverty.


This year, Heart & Sole is going the distance to give communities access to sustainable resources through Baptist Global Response. Through the basic gift of something like a water well or milk cow, we provide not only immediate nutrition but also invaluable education and a new source of income for a family to become strong.

Few of us ever thought we would be running anything, much less a 10k, half marathon or even marathon, but we believe that God can use our bodies for much more, and will endure the pain to raise awareness about the needs of others. Inevitably we’ll experience blisters, achy joints, strained hamstring or two, but when we step back and consider what daily life looks like for people across the world, we have nothing to complain about. We kindly ask, will you also go the distance with us?

People often have to walk for hours to get water each day. They need it for drinking, cooking and washing their clothes. Every drop is precious. How wonderful it would be to have a good water source in every community!

The milk provides nutrition for the shelter boys and teaches them responsibility. When you purchase a cow, you give someone more than a source of income. You give them a healthier life.

All types of livestock are rescuing people from poverty. BGR is teaching farmers to raise animals like goats. When the animals have grown, the farmers can sell them so that they can purchase food for their own families
